Nursing is turning out to be one of the unique professions. Not because nurses provide services that are very important, but the nursing shortage is causing such huge demand that there is a large and growing media outcry.
Another press conference was held and scientists like Buerhaus and Karen Donelan revealed their findings from three different studies.
1. The recent looming recessions has caused retired nurses to go back to work, but this increase isn't as large as the number of baby boomers retiring.
2. Nurses believe that Hillary Clinton is the most capable of reforming the health care policies.
3. Most important issue is taking care of lack of health insurance of population.
4. 70 percent of the public view a nursing career as very favorable.
Some solutions that were presented involved recruiting and training nurses as well as recruiting more men into the profession.
Overall, this is a similar message we've heard over and over again. It is interesting to see some unique results such as the very favorable perception of nursing by the public as well as the fact that the recession is making retired nurses come back to work.
