As a nurse there are many aspects of technology that are necessary for you to operate. The specific machines that you will be using depends on what specialization you go into.
This aspect of nursing, the part of learning and using medical equipment is something that is often overlooked by many students. It is necessary to have some technical aptitude to be able to perform the required duties.
Some people are just not comfortable with technology so it is recommended that before they decide on what area they plan on concentrating in, to take a look at the job requirements.
However, it is not that big of a deal if you are not technologically savvy, there are many areas that you can go into if you are not comfortable operating medical equipment. On the whole, even if you don't consider yourself competent with technology, the overall job requirements of the vast majority of nursing jobs and profiles require minimal usage, plus you will be taught how to operate everything, in school and on the job as well.
Usually, for most medical equipment there are dedicated medical technicians whose job it is to take care of the machines and operate them when necessary. Nonetheless, a nurse has exposure and interface with technology all the time, from heart rate monitors to personal computers which hold patient files. Even if you do not pick a specialization that has dealings with medical equipment you will need a basic working knowledge of technology.
