Only after looking at the information of a handful of different nursing programs can you begin to tell the difference between the good programs and the not so good ones. It doesn't really matter if you are doing an RN-to-MSN program or doing a six week CNA program, the basic process of finding a good nursing program is the same.
The first and most important thing to do is to double check that the nursing program that you are looking at is certified by your state's Board of Nursing. Though any link that you find through this site will be, you still will want to check as it may have changed.
The second thing that separates the wheat from the chaff is much harder to determine. Good nursing programs teach more than just the information necessary to do the certification exams (like the NCLEX-PN and NCLEX-RN). They teach the actual knowledge required to be a good nurse. They instill in their students qualities like patients, empathy, perseverance, and a mental toughness required by the job.
To find out if a nursing program teaches this aspect of nursing, the best thing to do is to request information from a couple different schools (you can find the schools and request info at one of the links below). This will help you get an idea of different schools and you will begin to see which are the good programs and which are not so good.
Though the programs you will access thought this site have all been filtered for you, still some are better than others. Though even the worse one will still be much better than many of the programs you may find through other places.
The decision of which nursing program to take is an important one, and one that you will carry for the rest of your life. Pick carefully.
